The packing checklist every hemodialysis patient should use

Most travel packing lists worry about chargers and sunscreen. This one is shorter, but everything on it actually matters, because forgetting something here doesn't just ruin a day, it can put a whole trip at risk. Save it, screenshot it, whatever gets it in front of you the night before you leave.

Documents, printed and digital

Print copies, and also save them somewhere you can pull up on your phone if a bag goes missing.

• Your current dialysis prescription (dry weight, session length and frequency, dialysate)
• Recent lab results
• A list of current medications and dosages
• Written confirmation from the clinic at your destination, not just a phone call or email thread

Medication

• A few extra days of medication beyond your actual trip length, in case of a delayed flight or an extended stay
• Everything in original, labeled packaging, especially for customs
• A copy of prescriptions in case you need a local pharmacy mid-trip

The small stuff that's easy to forget

• Any supplies you personally prefer over what a clinic typically provides
• A phone number for your home care team, saved somewhere that doesn't depend on wifi
• Snacks that fit your diet, for the stretch between a delayed flight and your next real meal

The night before

Do one pass through this list against your actual bag, not from memory. It takes ten minutes and it's the difference between catching a gap now versus discovering it at a clinic reception desk in another country.

The one thing this list can't fix
